Zero Emission Vehicle Technology

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS:

Zero Emission Vehicle Technology I P introduces students to the fundamentals of Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) technologies through hands-on projects, real-world applications, and multimedia instruction. Students will explore high-voltage systems, Hydrogen fuel cell technology, renewable energy, and how emerging green technologies will shape future industries and net-zero infrastructure.

Selection of skills and knowledge learned throughout the course:

  • Fundamentals of Electrical/High Voltage Systems
  • Fundamentals of Hydrogen and Hydrogen Systems
  • Building and Maintaining Basic High Voltage and Hydrogen Systems
  • Basic Safety in Relation to High Voltage and Hydrogen Fuel Systems
  • Energy Production and Distribution
  • Types of Zero-Emission Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
  • ZEV Charging and Fueling Technologies
  • ZEV Infrastructure
  • Basic ZEV Maintenance
  • Basic ZEV Tools and Safety

Students will gain exposure to ZEV-related careers and leave with entry-level skills for future training or employment.

SECOND YEAR STUDENTS:

Zero Emission Vehicle Technology II P builds on the foundational concepts introduced in ZEV I with an emphasis on advanced system operations, diagnostics, and safety. Students deepen their understanding of zero-emission vehicle technology through analysis and hands-on application.

With a strong focus on Hydrogen fuel cell systems and voltage systems, students apply prior learning to more complex tasks that support the global shift toward net-zero emissions.

Selection of skills and knowledge learned throughout the course:

  • Advanced Hydrogen fuel cell technology
  • High-voltage diagnostics and system analysis
  • Hydrogen as an alternative fuel
  • Integration of renewable energy sources in transportation
  • Advanced electrical safety procedures
  • Voltage system troubleshooting and repair
  • Green vehicle efficiency and emissions reduction strategies
  • Career readiness in the clean energy and transportation fields

Students gain the advanced technical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to pursue careers or further training in the zero-emission transportation industry. This course prepares them for entry into specialized postsecondary programs, apprenticeships, or emerging roles in clean energy and green automotive technology.
