Eden Area ROP Center Program Student Dismissal
Update April 7, 2020
Dear Eden Area ROP Students and Families,
With the recent announcement from the Governor and the County Superintendent, and our four partner district Superintendents that schools will not resume regular in class instruction prior to the end of this school year, Eden Area ROP programs will also transition to distance learning options for students throughout the rest of the school year.
Of course, nothing about making this transition is typical and we recognize the challenges that everyone is facing in the uncertain environment. In addition to providing distance learning options our teachers have been reaching out to their students to check on their progress—now that we know how we will operate for the remainder of the year, look for more information regarding the structure of our distance learning options for students in the coming weeks. Our goal is provide meaningful opportunities for students while we balance the demands placed on families during this time.
Now that we expect to be out until the end of the school year, we are working on addressing the myriad of issues for our students based on this timeline like: grading, earning college credit, and participating in our summer internship program. We are working with our district and community college partners to determine how grading and earning of college credit will be addressed and assessing if it is feasible for our business partners to participate in an internship program.
For programs that offer students the opportunity to earn certifications, we are also discussing what, if anything we can do to provide students the opportunity to earn those certifications.
We know this is an incredibly difficult time for all, yet nothing is more important than the safety of our students and staff. Working together and each of us doing what we can, we will get through this.
Linda Granger, Superintendent
Update March 30, 2020-Eden Area ROP Center Closure through May 1st
In collaboration with local public health officers and school district leaders, the county superintendents of schools in six Bay Area counties announced today the need to extend school closures through May 1, 2020. This decision prioritizes the need to keep students, families, and staff safe by slowing the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Update March 16, 2020
After much deliberation with our neighboring school districts, and out of an abundance of concern for all members of our community, we have decided to take strong preventative action by closing the Eden Area ROP Center to students beginning Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3. In order to minimize disruption to student learning, Spring Break will be moved up to the week of March 30. School will resume on April 6.
Regardless of the status of school closures for each of our partner districts, all students are excused from attending classes at the Eden Area ROP Center.
Information is changing rapidly and we will keep you updated via our website.
